Preston Armed Forces Day

A day of family-friendly fun has been lined up as Preston gets set to salute the Armed Forces and enjoy a line-up of performers at this year’s ‘Familyfest’.

Performing live on a specially created stage on the balcony of the Harris Museum will be:

‘The Voice’ winner, Kevin Simm  joined by X Factor champion Matt Cardleand Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall.

They will be supported by other performers including:

  • Sam Callaghan
  • Tiger Heart, who recently supported Peter Andre on his sell-out national tour
  • Janet Devlin
  • Hana Joy
  • Gabz
  • and District 12, hotly tipped to be Britain’s next big boyband!

Radio’s Danny Bee will present the show, which will also feature special guest appearances from stars from the international wrestling circuit who will be appearing at the Guild Hall that evening.

FamilyFest is organised by Preston Business Improvement District (BID) and runs from 1pm – 4pm as part of Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day

The day begins at 11.00am with a formal service of celebration, including Military bands and the city’s veterans, officially declaring the event open.

There will be various military equipment on display around the Flag Market including a spitfire and Challenger tank all supplied by two local military museums, the veterans association and local and national charities.

There will also be;

  • a fairground for the children
  • vintage 1940’s afternoon-tea
  • Preston City Wrestling at the Guild Hall

Plus other attractions and stalls!

Make sure you look out for sci-fi characters from the sci world wearing costumes and collecting money for armed forces charities.

Fingers crossed for a flyby this year!

Armed Forces Day has been organised by Cllr. Drew Gale and is sponsored by the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce. The day celebrates the city’s serving soldiers, their families and Preston’s connection with the armed forces.
